Bamboozled

Twitter is undoubtedly a pillar in social media, however some may argue on how heavy its influence lies.  The reason I say this is not based on traffic or how many members it carries rather the template it brings to our lives.  Twitter is the pioneer of the social feed, instant updates on anything you deem important.  Weather it be CNN, Mashable, your best friend, or Kim Kardashian.  You get the information in real time.  There are two avenues that concept is being transported.

The first being integration to a bigger picture platform like….oh…..FACEBOOK.  Facebook copied this “feed” idea because its a good one, we want the latest and greatest and we want it now.

The second avenue the Twitter concept can go down is independence, example-Ping.  This is essentially compartmentalizing the twitter experience to where you are most likely to pay attention.  If I am on iTunes i’m obviously already thinking about music and wouldn’t that be the best time to hit me with information from my favorite bands.  Twitter has evolved so far beyond personal accounts; there are bands, restaurants, companies, non-profits, volunteer groups, celebrities, etc…. If I include all my interests and life connections on my twitter feed it would become far too much to handle.  The information will be lost because the input is too great.  So compartmentalizing that experience where it would be most effective is of high interest. I believe that in the future these two avenues are going to expand greatly.
